Choo choo - last overnight train :D

Day 35 - 08/11/09 - Kunming (China)

After a late start this morning, we wandered down the road to Dong Feng Square, which is where locals do morning exercises (tai chi) and play badminton. There were only a few people exercising as it was midday when we got there. We then walked down a shopping street which was for pedestrians only.

We were given a brochure which had pictures of lasagne and spaghetti on them, and it looked really nice, so we asked her where to go. She took us up to a theme restaurant, where they barely spoke English. It took about 7 staff standing around us and 20-30 mins to order some lunch - and we were disappointed to find out that the pictures in the brochure were not food they sold, so no lasagne for us. :(

It was then another walk to the Bird & Flower Market before visiting Green Lake Park. The park was quite large and full of opera singers and ethnic groups dancing. We then took a taxi back to the hotel and had dinner at their Japanese restaurant.

Day 36 - 09/11/09 - Kunming & Guangzhou (China)

This morning after breakfast, we went for a wander down the street to a bakery and convenience store to get some food for our 24hr train ride to Guangzhou. We then went back to the hotel to check out before Johnson transferred us the 2 blocks to the train station.

Our train departed at 11:50am and we settled in to our home for the next 24 hours. We spent the afternoon sleeping, watching the countryside, and playing our DS games.

Take care - Jess & Scotty
