Hello again
So now we're in Vientiane but i will update you on the frolics of Vang Vieng, or a lack there of! So we went tubing on the Nam Som river and to be honest it was kind of a shock it was not what we expected basically there's a stretch of 5 bars within 100 metres and everybody who goes tubing just stays there and gets drunk all day! and many are drunk by 12.00 midday! I wasn't the biggest fan of the tubing bit but Suz liked it. The best bit was tubing down the river back to Vang Vieng, because it was peaceful and relaxing. I made the stupid mistake of going on the first massive rope swing and managed to land face first in the river (which we have on film for all) lets just say i was a bit sore after that!
Vang Vieng is really strange its in the middle of nowhere but its just like a tourist resort full of white people on an 18-30. The weird thing is that every other bar plays Friends and Family Guy non stop all day. we spent many hours whiling away in the Family Guy Bar!
Ok now for the not so great stuff. The day after tubing Suz is all better by now (no more pooping), but I on the otherhand am not. I managed to get food poisoning and spent 24 hours being sick pretty much every half an hour o'the FUN! I had so many symptoms we had to go the hospital and I had to have an injection in my bum! The doctor basically said that I had to drink as much water as possible and the more I was sick the better! Great! fun times were ahead then! Five days later and all is well now, so there's no need to worry.
( Can i just say matt is a crap patient and has to be forced to do anything helpful, ie go to the hospital, or drink water. But being the good nurse that I am i struggled through the 24 hours with him )
(Can I just add that the water was not NORMAL water. It was full of rehydration solution, and for those who have not tried it it tastes like salty sweaty water and is absolutely disgusting! AND I drank over 5 litres of it! Yuk!)
Ok so now in Vientiane, the first day we walked around the city which is really nice and relaxed, really hot though. We went to the Lao National History Museum which was nice to see but not that great.
Yesterday we went to the Buddha Park along the Mekong which is full of statues and strange carved rocks like a big bowl that you can get inside through the mouth carving on the side. Next was the Patuxi which is basically a crap copy of the Arc de Triomphe. But nice to see nonetheless. Today we are taking a 24 hour bus ride to Hanoi and not looking foward to it because apparently the roads are well not roads and at leats 60% of them are gravel potholed tracks. Can't wait! Ok well write again in Hanoi
Bye for now
